3M™ Jupiter™ Air Powered Unit
The 3M Jupiter TM filter-ventilation unit, when used with one of the approved 3M hoods, forms a respiratory protection device with auxiliary ventilation.

The Jupiter TM filter unit can be used with the following hoods 3M: HT-100 series, HT-400 series, HT-600 series, HT-700 series and HT-800 series.
- Choice of three batteries: 4 h, 8 h, intrinsically safe (4 h).
- NiMH batteries have a longer life and are lighter.
- Choice of five filter types: P3, A2P3, K1P3, ABE1P3, A2BEK1P3.
- The filter covers limit the ingress of dust and sparks into the filter body.
- The small profile of the Jupiter TM filter unit allows good freedom of movement, especially in confined spaces.
- The smooth shape of the Jupiter TM filter-ventilation unit allows easy cleaning.
- Ergonomically designed belt increases user comfort.
- An electronic alarm provides visual and audible warning of low flow and/or low battery.
- The simple calibration method ensures a longer product life, requiring no maintenance from the manufacturer.

Certificate:
When used as part of an approved system, the 3M Jupiter TM filter-ventilation unit has been shown to meet the essential safety requirements of Articles 10 and 11B of European Community Directive 89/686/EEC and is therefore CE marked.
The product has been tested at the design stage by the British Standards Institute, Product Services, Maylands Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 4QS, England (notified body No 0086).
The 3M Jupiter filter-ventilation unit equipped with the intrinsically safe battery 3M has been approved for intrinsic safety in accordance with European Community Directive 94/9/EC by the SIRA Certification Service with identification number 0518.
Standards:
The Jupiter TM system consisting of the Jupiter TM filter-ventilation unit (085-00-10P) and approved hoods 3M has been tested and approved to EN 12941.
The Jupiter TM filter-ventilation unit meets the following requirements:
- Protection against dust and splash water according to EN 60529, code IP53. When the Jupiter TM filter ventilation unit is equipped with an intrinsically safe kit (085-12-00P), consisting of an intrinsically safe battery and intrinsically safe bag, and a lightweight breathing tube (008-00-42P) connected to an approved hood 3M, the entire system meets these additional requirements:
- Dust protection according to EN 60529, code IP63.
- Intrinsic safety according to EN 50014, EN 50020 and EN 50281 (EEx ib IIB T3 and II 2 G D). Use:
The Jupiter TM filter-ventilation unit used as an approved system with suitable filters provides protection against:
- particles such as fine dust, aerosols and metal fumes;
- gases and fumes;
- combinations of particles and gases. The JupiterTM filter-ventilation unit with approved hood and filters can be used in a variety of applications including:
- Pharmaceutical industry
- Mixing/handling of chemicals
- Laboratories
- Spray paint (without isocyanates)
- Handling glass fibres
- Chemical and agrochemical sprays
- Welding
- Foundries
- Grinding
Restrictions on use:
It must not be used in the following conditions:
- Asbestos demolition
- Oxygen-deficient atmospheres
- Confined spaces (i.e. spaces with insufficient ventilation)
- Situations in which the risk is considered to be imminent danger to life or health (IDLH)
- Situations in which the concentration of contaminants exceeds the specified concentrations in the Guidance for hood users
